Cosmetic Dental Services for a Younger Looking You When you are ready to sport a younger, fresher appearance, visit our Boston Road Dentist Office for comprehensive choices in cosmetic dental services. Instead of opting for painful, invasive procedures to improve your looks, a Bronx dentist can make a big difference simply by improving the appearance of your teeth.

Your Bronx dentist will thoroughly examine your mouth, teeth and gums to get to the root of the problem before recommending cosmetic dental services that are best for you. Cosmetic dental services available at Boston Road dental facilities include the following:

Crowns and Bridges

Dental Implants

Composite Filling

Teeth Whitening

Crowns can be used over a single tooth, or they can be used to form bridges. Crowns strengthen a weakened or damaged tooth or can be used with large fillings to preserve the tooth. Bridges are permanent devices that consist of two crowns placed over two anchoring healthy teeth with an artificial tooth or teeth placed between them.

First, the dentist will numb the area and create a mold of the tooth in order to create the crown. Your next appointment will involve preparing the area to receive the crown or bridge in order to ensure a proper fit. The crown or bridge is then positioned in its place and carefully fitted for proper bite and alignment.

Dental implants permanently replace missing teeth by affixing replacement teeth to a titanium rod inserted into the gum. Although not for everyone, this procedure is a permanent alternative to removable dentures and results in durable, natural looking teeth.

Your dentist will first evaluate whether or not your jaw bone is strong enough for implants. If it is, then titanium rods are surgically placed in the gum where the missing tooth will be affixed. After about four months when the rod becomes fused to the jaw, the permanent tooth is attached.

Composite fillings replace those unsightly gray or silver fillings with durable tooth colored material. Whether you have a cavity or want to replace an old filling, composite fillings blend well with the rest of your teeth for a natural look.

After the area is numbed, the tooth is cleaned and prepared to receive the filling. The filling is then placed, shaped, and polished. This results in a brand new, natural looking tooth.

Extremely durable and natural looking, veneers are thin pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain that are bonded onto the front of teeth. They are used to fix crooked or misshapen teeth; replace teeth that are too small or too big; fill uneven gaps; or fix worn or chipped teeth.

Veneers usually require two visits with little or no anesthesia. First, the teeth are buffed and shaped. Next, your Bronx dentist makes a mold of your teeth and matches your tooth shade. On the second visit, your teeth will be prepared and the veneers permanently affixed with very strong dental cement. A special light will be placed over the area to cure and set the bond.

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive procedure that lightens the color of natural tooth enamel. Patients may choose to undergo this procedure at home or at our Boston Road dentist facilities. This procedure is not permanent but can last several years with proper care.

The at-home option involves two office visits. During the first visit, a mold of your teeth will be made in order to create customized plastic trays. On your second visit, the trays will be adjusted for proper fit. The trays are filled with a special whitening gel and worn for 2 to 5 hours or overnight.

The in-office option involves one office visit where bleaching gel will be placed on your teeth followed by exposure to a blue light for about an hour. You will then be given bleaching trays and gel to use at home.
